Understanding Rugby is owned and operated by Tight Five, LLC.
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of UnderstandingRugby.com and the courses, articles, downloads, emails, graphics, videos, animations, and other material provided through Understanding Rugby.
By using the website or Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the Services.
Educational Purpose
Understanding Rugby is an independent educational resource created to help people understand and enjoy rugby and the Laws of the Game.
Its material is provided for education, commentary, and discussion.
Understanding Rugby is not an official source of rugby law, regulation, referee instruction, disciplinary guidance, competition rules, or governing-body policy.
The Official Laws Control
Rugby laws, interpretations, application guidelines, regulations, competition rules, and governing-body guidance may change.
Understanding Rugby attempts to present rugby concepts accurately and in plain English, but our material necessarily summarizes, explains, analyzes, or interprets official information.
If there is any inconsistency between Understanding Rugby content and the current official material, including the Laws of the Game, law clarifications, law application guidelines, regulations, competition rules, age-grade variations, or governing-body instructions, the applicable official material controls.
Players, coaches, referees, administrators, and others responsible for applying rugby laws should consult the current official sources applicable to their competition, jurisdiction, age group, and form of the game.
Independent Resource — No Affiliation or Endorsement
Understanding Rugby is an independent educational project.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Understanding Rugby and Tight Five, LLC are not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or official publications of World Rugby, USA Rugby, the U.S. Rugby Foundation, any rugby union, competition, league, club, referee organization, or other rugby governing body.
References to those organizations are made for educational, descriptive, commentary, identification, or informational purposes.
Permitted Use
You may use Understanding Rugby content for your own personal and noncommercial education. You may share links to publicly available Understanding Rugby pages.
You may also quote brief portions of our original material where reasonably appropriate for discussion, review, commentary, or other purposes permitted by law, provided appropriate attribution is given.
Unless we provide written permission, you may not:
- Republish substantial portions of our courses or articles
- Copy or distribute course lessons
- Sell or commercially exploit Understanding Rugby content
- Reproduce proprietary graphics, animations, worksheets, guides, or downloadable material
- Remove copyright, trademark, attribution, or proprietary notices

We will not publicly identify you by name in connection with a private submission without permission unless you submitted the material for public posting.
Do not submit confidential or proprietary information that you do not want us to receive.
Free Course and U.S. Rugby Foundation Donations
Understanding Rugby may provide educational content without charging a course fee.
We may invite users who believe the material has value to make a voluntary charitable donation to the U.S. Rugby Foundation.
Any such donation is not a payment to Understanding Rugby or Tight Five, LLC.
When you select a U.S. Rugby Foundation donation button or link on Understanding Rugby, you will be taken to a donation system operated for the U.S. Rugby Foundation.
Donations made there are made directly through the U.S. Rugby Foundation’s donation system and are subject to its policies.
Neither Understanding Rugby nor Tight Five, LLC processes that donation, determines its tax deductibility, issues the charitable receipt, or controls the donor information collected by the donation platform.
Questions concerning donations, tax deductibility, receipts, restrictions, or use of donated funds should be directed to the U.S. Rugby Foundation.
Third-Party Links
Understanding Rugby may link to World Rugby, USA Rugby, the U.S. Rugby Foundation, rugby organizations, social networks, publications, videos, and other third-party resources.
A link does not necessarily constitute endorsement. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, services, policies, or content.
No Guarantee of Accuracy or Availability
We work to make Understanding Rugby accurate, useful, and current. Nevertheless, we do not guarantee that every item is complete, error-free, current, or applicable to every competition or situation.
The Services may occasionally be changed, interrupted, or unavailable.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Understanding Rugby and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tight Five, LLC and its owners, employees, contractors, contributors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or reliance upon Understanding Rugby or its content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tight Five, LLC and its owners and operators from claims, liabilities, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Services or material violation of these Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
To the extent a dispute may legally be required to be heard in a particular jurisdiction, venue shall lie in an appropriate state or federal court serving Broward County, Florida.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain effective to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Changes to These Terms
We may modify these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
